Moon (2009)

 Moon follows the story of Sam Bell, played by Sam Rockwell (who previosly starred with Nicolas Cage in Matchstick Men), as he is preparing to depart from the space station on the Moon where he has resided by himself for three years. His only companion on the station is a robot named Gerty who is voiced by Kevin Spacey. The duo are harvesting helium 3 to help with the Earth’s power problems.

This movie is one of my favorite SciFi films ever released. Sam Rockwell is amazing in this role and responds to everything that happens to him in a very realistic way. The movie contains many great plot twists that kept me guessing in a good way. Many of the effects are done practically and it makes the station feel that much more real. Moon also pays tribute to many SciFi classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Silent Running.

Trivia:The alarm that plays near the end of the film is the same sound as on the iPhone.
